Sedum is a natural
conditioner for our hair produced by the sebaceous gland. When we
brush our hair the sedum from our scalp is distributed over the shaft. When we wear
Indian hair extensions they
are no longer connected to the scalp so they do not benefit from this
natural conditioner. To make matters worse, most shampoos will strip off
these natural oils. For this reason, it is extremely important to maintain
these oils by using high quality shampoo and conditioner with a low
PH when using Indian Hair extensions.
Hard protein called Keratin make up the shaft. The outer most layer of
the shaft is the cuticle tightly overlapping cell resembling roof shingle. A
healthy cuticle is smooth and lays down flat against the shaft of the hair.
This makes for soft and manageable hair. However if your hair is neglected
the cuticle becomes dry and damaged causing it to be rough. The
cuticle bends up from the shaft and catches on the other cuticles around it
and your hair becomes matted. Shampoos will strip and dry your that is why
you need to use a good conditioner and leave it on long enough to
do its job of keeping the cuticle healthy and soft. If you are wearing
Indian hair
extensions you need to use a gentle shampoo that won’t strip off the oils.
You also need an extra moisturizing conditioner to make up for the lack of
Sedum.
